DEVON, CANADA. (June 2010). New camera ... new lens ... and a new, redesigned, client website at Zenfolio. The camera is the Olympus E-620, which is a terrific bargain right now for its feature set. The lens is the critically acclaimed Zuiko Digital ED 50mm f2.0 Macro, which is as optically superb as all of the reviews say it is. The website, which I put a lot of hours into developing, can be viewed here - take a look, and let me know what you think. Picture of the Purple Heart (Tradescantia pallida) above is available for sale as prints. Original photo properties: Olympus E-620 dSLR, Zuiko Digital ED 50mm f2.0 Macro lens (100mm, 35mm equivalent), handheld, image stabilization on, single autofocus, aperture priority, centre-weighted average metering, 1/60s f4.5, ISO 200, 2959 x 2742 pixels (after crop), RAW.

  1. You know, I always watched your photography with the E410 keenly since about the same time I bought my E410. And I always wondered when you were going to up-size to the E620.

Tis a delightful little camera, I've enjoyed mine immensely over the last twelve or so months I've owned mine. Unfortunately my E410 met a very grizzly end at the hands of some battery acid...

  2. Great to see you back dingo! Enjoy your new camera - E620 is a little brother of E30, so I know it's good. Make tons of images with it! :-)

You also got 50/2 too? Another great lens in your collection. Your new site is doing good and working - good music too!

I haven't updated my photo site for a while - personal problems. We lost our baby boy, but hopefully our little daughter is getting better every day! So more pictures will come...

  3. reldred ... thanks for continuing to log in after all this time. I'm still learning the E-620's quirks, but agree it's a delightful, well-specified camera. I'd gotten good mileage out of the E-410 and will still use it, but having the IS in the new camera is sure nice. Sorry to hear about your 410's unfortunate demise ...

Ivan ... I'm so sorry to hear about your baby boy :-( ... I don't know what to say. That's so sad. Hope you, your wife, and little girl are doing ok - my thoughts are with you all. Thanks for your kind comments on the site, it's always nice to have you stop in around here. I need to use my E-620 more, there just doesn't seem to be much time these days to go out and shoot. Of course, I would've loved to have gotten the E-30, but I figured I could save a bit of money going for its little brother and use the difference toward a ZD 50/2! ;-) So far so good ...

  4. Thanks Felix. When our daughter comes out from the NICU and arrives home I'll make tons of photographs. :-)

E30 is a great camera with pro features and wonderful ergonomics. But E620 is ideal for transportation and travel. Sometimes I wish I saved the money and bought E620. Anyhow, I bought E30 kit that came with 14-54 Mk2 and paid just 200 euros for this fantastic piece of glass.

I noticed that you haven't updated your site for a while, so I worried a bit. :-) Nice to know that you'll have some more free time to go out and shoot (of course you will, you have a new gear ;-) ), so more great photographs to come.

P.S. Still envy tiny little bit for your Leica prime. ;-)

  5. I'm sure your E-30 will get a great workout when your daughter comes home. :-)

No doubt, the E-30 is a superb camera and I think it's definitely nicer to use with big lenses like your 50-200, so no worries! Plus, getting the 14-54 Mk2 for just 200 euros with the body is an excellent deal.

I've been slow to update this site because I've just been so busy at work lately ... and it doesn't leave much time for photography. :-( Of course, I will have to correct this in the near future.

P.S. The Leica prime is fantastic, but I sometimes wish I had your E-30 viewfinder to pair with it! (So the envy goes both ways :)
